SOME 1,000 underprivileged children got to ride on the Singapore Flyer - the world's largest observation wheel - on Children's Day on Wednesday, as part of a special treat for The Business Times' 32nd anniversary celebrations.
The children will also benefit from $200,000 raised by corporations and private individuals for the charity concert ChildAid. Information, Communications and the Arts Minister Lee Boon Yang presented the cheque.
Proceeds from the concert, now into its fourth year, benefit The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which helps needy pupils and students with money for recess; and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, which nurtures the artistic talents of underprivileged children.
This year's concert will be held on Dec 3 and 4 at the University Cultural Centre.
