Lower Pierce Reservoir
"This is Lower Pierce Reservoir. For many, it is where we get our daily drinking water. For me, it has a special place in my heart. I grew up in the estate near the reservoir. It was the place where my childhood friends and I cycle to catch spiders after school, it was the place where my teenage years were spent fishing at the reservoir. It was where my girlfriend and I went to watch the sunset. Now we are married and we still visit the place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is my sanctuary of peace and tranquility. We are expecting our first child and I hope Peirce Reservoir will also have a place in his heart as he grows up. Just like it is for his Dad." - Goh Ngan Yeow

Indian mama shop "My grandparents used to live in Liang Seah Street. Whenever I visit them with my parents when I was just a little girl, I would always be led by the familiar smell of Jasmine (typical of the Indian culture) to a small mama shop managed by an Indian uncle who would sit faithfully by his shop, earning a living by selling tidbits, cigarettes and some simple toys. I would be that regular customer every weekend, standing on the five footway, picking a snack of my choice. After making my way up though the dark narrow staircase, the day would be spent with the rest of my aunties, uncles and cousins - there are about thirty of us - who would eat, play and chat. When we leave my grandparent's place for home, we would pass by the shop again and there would be a smile on the uncle's face, signalling to us that he recognises us..." - Priscilla Low

Raffles
"Since the founding of Singapore by Sir Stamford Thomas Raffles in 1819, his landing site remains a historical landmark. This place is very meaningful to us Singaporeans, as we consider this the birth place of Singapore. As Singapore continues to strive towards excellence, overcoming every obstacle in our way, the site has developed into a place where skyscrapers dominate the skyline, becoming the financial heartbeat of Singapore. Upon reaching the 43rd year into Singapore's independence, Sir Stamford Raffles's statue is present to remind us about our past, to treasure our present and to embrace our future." – Milton Tan

Changi Airport "One place that feels like home. It would be Changi Airport, and the familiar control station. The last and the first thing we see when we depart from Singapore or when we return to the embrace of Singapore - Our Home. It is where we are in tune with our identity, holding our heads high for what we've come to be." – Rene Thong

Tiong Bahru market "We have memories of travelling from our Jurong East home to this temporary maket at Tiong Bahru on Sundays to enjoy the spread of local hawker fare. My 5-year-old son enjoys running about behind the market. When he grows up, I am sure these photos will bring up fond memories for him if he decides to leave to work overseas. These photos I hope will remind him of a place called home." - Chong Kim Hwa

Punggol fishing area "Punggol Fishing Area is where I call home because I go there every weekend. I like the place because I can catch a big variety of interesting fishes, they include kitang, garoupa and even puffer fishes. The best part of fishing there is I would never know what I am going to catch. Fishing in Punggol is full of uncertainty and fun....just like life." – Emmanuel Yap

School "This was where my school campus was for the best times of my secondary school life. The place is so scenic that I remember sitting in the canteen and looking out into the distant scenery. Who says Singapore is all barren and has a lack of scenery, when we have such a beautiful place to build special memories?" – Rachel Lim
