At the National Day Parade (NDP) 2009 National Education Show yesterday, performers waved Singapore flags from grids that reached up to a height of nine storeys.

The two towering sets of grids are the defining feature of this year's NDP stage which is located on the floating platform on the Singapore River.

About 21,000 Primary 5 pupils from 89 schools were entertained with a variety of performances.

These included giant puppets walking through the crowd, military manoeuvres and a national day song by local rock band Electrico.

The theme of this year's NDP is 'Come Together - Reaching Out, Reaching Up', which draws inspiration from the national pledge in its message of unity.
