Results of STI and FTSE ST Index Series half-yearly review to be announced on 10 September 2009

Singapore, 2 September 2009 – Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) and FTSE Group (FTSE) will announce the results of the half-yearly review of the constituents of the Straits Times Index (STI) and 20 other indices in the FTSE ST Index Series (excluding the newly-launched FTSE ST Maritime Index) after market close on Thursday, 10 September 2009.

The STI and FTSE ST indices are reviewed in accordance with the published Index Ground Rules, using figures from the close of business on 31 August 2009. The changes will be approved by the FTSE ST Index Advisory Committee, which is chaired by Mr Greg Seow and comprises seven other market practitioners from Singapore’s investment community. This rules-based approach and independent index committee structure ensures transparency and objectivity in the management of the STI and FTSE ST Index Series.

The changes announced on 10 September 2009 will be implemented after the market close on Friday, 18 September 2009. Reviews are carried out every March and September.

SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8, U and TV Mobile, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 FM in Mandarin and Radio 91.3 FM in English.

Outdoor Advertising

In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
