Bowlers keep in range of more medals
SINGAPORE'S bowlers are on course for more medals, when the second block of three games for the team events begin today at the Orchid Country Club.
The boys' team (Basil Low, Brandon Lee, Christopher Hwang and Justin Lim) finish in third place with 2,485 pinfalls yesterday. They are 67 pinfalls behind leaders Japan (2,552), while Hong Kong are second on 2,545.
The Singapore girls are also in third place with 2,304 pinfalls. South Korea are the pace-setters with 2,437, while Japan are second on 2,425.
S'pore beaten in basketball quarters
SINGAPORE'S boys team are out of the Fiba 33 basketball tournament, after losing 24-34 to South Korea in the quarter-finals yesterday at Anglican High School.
The Republic's girls, who are already out of the competition, defeated Bahrain 33-2 in their final group match.
Hosts bow out of beach volleyball
SINGAPORE are out of the beach volleyball competition, after Melvin Goh and Qing Shan lost 20-22, 21-19, 6-15 to Oman yesterday at Sentosa's Siloso Beach.
Also through to today's quarter-finals are Chinese
Taipei, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bahrain and Thailand.
In today's girls' semi-finals, it will be Indonesia-Kazakhstan and China-Thailand.
