SINGAPORE'S Byte CII sailor Darren Choy, 15, had a perfect start on the first day of races at the Asian Youth Games yesterday.
He claimed three first-place finishes at East Coast Park, winning the first race by an amazing 10 boat lengths.
He said: 'I'm quite surprised with the results as I was just trying to concentrate on sailing well and not worry about the results. But it's still early and there are more races left.'
He leads second-placed Supakon Pongwicheat of Thailand by five points.
Fellow Singaporean Najwa Jumali is third in the Girls' division, behind Thai Jittiwa Thanawitwilat and China's Gu Min.
The competition continues today, with another nine races scheduled till Monday.
