MR BENJAMIN Pwee,the Singapore People's Party's 'star catch' at the recent general election has been named as the party's second assistant secretary-general.A statement released by the party this morning said that Mr Pwee had been co-opted into the central-executive committee with immediate effect.

THEY may not have won the contest yet, but the Singapore People's Party introduced to Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC residents a group of party volunteers that would form the core of the town council management committee, if its team wins the election.The group includes architect Juliana Juwahir, 38; businessman David Tan, 64, and Potong Pasir town councillor S Kunalen, 53.
NOW that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has apologised, other ministers and MPs should do so as well.The Singapore People's Party joined the chorus of opposition voices attacking PM Lee's admission two days ago that his party had made some mistakes.
