'He refused any payment.'
MR DEV MENON: 'On Aug 1, my wife and I walked for several hours viewing the beautiful exhibits at the Singapore Garden Show at Suntec Convention Hall and then wanted to go to the Carrefour store 'nearby'. As senior citizens, and exhausted, we were ready to accept the cost of a taxi, even though it was only about 50m. Mr Soon Kong Soon (taxi registration SHC 360 A) not only agreed but refused any payment at all.'
At the Causeway
'Professionalism and courtesy.'
MR JEREMY A. HAY: 'On July 27, my family and I entered Singapore via the Causeway, arriving from Malaysia on an overnight bus. It was before 6am, and I was still groggy, and I accidentally left the checkpoint without retrieving my United States passport from an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer. Later that morning, I spoke to Woodlands duty officer Thomas, who went to great lengths to find my passport and keep me updated through the day. Thank you, Thomas, for your professionalism and courtesy.'
At the zoo
'Help for injured children.'
MS SUJATHA JOHN: 'On Aug 11, my husband and I took our children to the zoo as a treat. While we were waiting in the queue for the tram ride, two boys in front fell from the rope barricade and one accidentally kicked my five-year-old daughter on the cheek. One of the staff named Danny approached and called for help for the three injured children. My daughter was attended to by Mr Zhenhao.'
