'One hike too many.'
MR KEITH TYRONE NEUBRONNER: 'I fondly remember how it was $2.40 for a while. Then it crept up to $2.50 - still okay. $2.80 - oh dear. And not to mention all the surcharges no one can really keep track of unless they possess a taxi fare decal themselves. Now, it's $3.10 because of the 30-cent fuel surcharge - ridiculous. While I acknowledge that petrol and diesel prices have increased greatly, I do not see how this surcharge is ever going to be removed. So in essence, it just means taxi fares have gone up again. And with this one increase, I would not be surprised if come December, a new surcharge will be levied. My guess is that the flag-down rate will be $3.40 come the new year, seeing how the trend is to add on 30 cents. This is one hike too many.'
