Orbital Circle Line will save travel time
I REFER to the letter, 'New Circle Line doesn't benefit those in West Coast' by Mr Tan Shao Ken (June 30).

The Circle Line is an orbital line, unlike the existing North-South Line, East-West Line and North-East Line which are radial lines that take commuters from the suburbs to the city. The intent of the Circle Line is to enhance connectivity and reduce time taken for travel between suburban destinations by linking the various radial lines. By using the Circle Line, commuters can avoid having to make transfers at busy interchange stations in the city area in order to switch between the different radial MRT lines. The Circle Line is not intended to connect suburban areas directly to the city centre.

Residents living in the West Coast using the East-West Line for their journey can make use of the Circle Line to transfer seamlessly to the North-South Line or North-East Line, and in time to come, the Downtown Line and Thomson Line, without the need to pass through the city centre. In doing so, they can reduce the distance and save on time taken for the journey.
