I REFER to the letter, 'Still no full number portability by Mr Roland Lim (June 25).
The current full mobile number portability system, which was introduced on June 13, allows pre- or post-paid mobile customers to port their numbers within the respective service offerings. This is in recognition that consumers would choose mobile services based on their needs (for example, pre-paid users usually prefer the flexibility of not being on a contract), and most would likely stay as a pre- or post-paid mobile customers when they switch providers. Therefore, full mobile number portability is offered only within those respective service offerings.
We thank Mr Lim for his feedback. IDA will continue to monitor market developments following the introduction of the full mobile number portability service.
