Open-bedded lorries

'Expect the situation to deteriorate.' MR NELSON QUAH: 'Tuesday's report, 'Lorry spills 20 foreign workers in crash' once again turns the spotlight on the need for the Land Transport Authority to swiftly come up with safety regulations for passengers travelling in open-bedded trucks and lorries. The number of such accidents on the rise - a casualty toll of 184 injured and two killed last year, compared with 71 hurt and five dead in 2006 - is worrying. Unless some safety measures are introduced to protect passengers, we can expect the situation to deteriorate.'
