Why so long for simple repair jobs?
DO THE authorities take so long to complete simple projects because they opt for the 'cheapest' and 'best' quotes from contractors to do painting, repair and upgrading work?

In the process, residents are the ones who suffer as the work is usually not carried out consistently. One day, one sees workers on a worksite, the next they are elsewhere on another project.

It was reported last month that Tekka Centre will close for upgrading until the third quarter of next year. This means it will take more than a year, just to increase seating capacity, install escalators and lifts, and build wider passages for the elderly and handicapped. With modern technology, six months is more than enough time.

A second example is the repair, washing and repainting of the external walls of Housing Board flats. Recently, I received notification from Marine Parade Town Council that these works will be carried out on my block for two months. Why does it take two months to complete such simple work?
