THE police wish to thank Mr Tang Mun Keong for his feedback 'Make it easier to park during Qing Ming' (April 8).
The road mentioned is Sin Ming Avenue and not Sin Ming Road. The police are aware of the parking needs during Qing Ming and have made special arrangements.
Previously, motorists could park along a short stretch of Sin Ming Avenue but this resulted in major traffic congestion. The police have since adjusted the scheme to allow roadside parking along Sin Ming Walk, a minor road off Sin Ming Avenue. This improved traffic flow significantly along Sin Ming Avenue this year.
As for the residential car park in the immediate vicinity, the HDB had deployed staff to guide motorists to other available car parks. Motorists should park their vehicles at designated locations in the vicinity of the cemeteries or columbaria.
We seek urge motorists to comply with traffic signs and directions given by police officers, auxiliary police officers as well as the columbarium or temple marshals on duty. The police will act against motorists who park indiscriminately or cause obstruction.
