I THANK Mr Peter Goh Kui Hoe for his feedback last Saturday on the roles and responsibilities of MRT security officers in 'MRT security too tough a job for some'.
The primary role of security personnel at MRT stations is to look out for suspicious people or items. They are trained to report and handle specific situations.
Their presence is also a visible deterrence to potential aggressors of the system. As part of their duties, they will conduct random bag checks and report any suspicious looking persons at the station.
