Bizlink workshop for less severely disabled
I REFER to the report, 'Looking beyond disAbility' (April 12), which highlighted several sheltered workshops.

Clients working in Bizlink's workshop generally have less severe disabilities and higher functioning abilities. This enables them to take on work assignments and enjoy the status as employees.

The other sheltered workshops mentioned in the article generally have clients with moderate and severe disabilities. They may not be able to take on work assignments. Hence, the types of benefits enjoyed by the clients do tend to vary across different workshops.

It is unfortunate that a comparison to 'modern slavery' was made.

Bizlink acknowledges the good service performed by the other workshops. In fact, Bizlink regularly refers clients who cannot perform work at its workshop to the other sheltered workshops.
