I REFER to last Thursday's letter, 'Acceptance needed among expat Indians', by Mrs Padmini Kesavapany.
She mentioned the instance of a group of Indian expatriate women raising funds to help poor local Indians and said it was news to her that many local Indians here are in dire straits.
She is out of touch with poor Indians in Singapore. She should ask the Singapore Indian Development Association how many poor Indians apply for financial assistance every month.
Expatriate Indians do a good deed, so why discourage such help?
