I REFER to last Thursday's report, '241 schools, preschools with HFMD clusters', which indicated that Nanyang Kindercare closed for two days last week.
We would like to clarify that we closed our centre on a voluntary basis as we felt this was in the best interest of all children enrolled at our centre. We have 100 per cent support from all parents in our decision to voluntarily close the centre so we can collectively prevent further spread of the HFMD virus.
Officers from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Health visited our centre on separate occasions and indicated that we have met all hygiene standards. It is contact among children that causes cross-infection. We are thankful that our parents appreciate these facts.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and do our utmost to ensure the welfare of all children under our care.
