SECURITY officers are deployed at MRT stations to check bags at random and this is necessary for the safety of passengers.
It is a heavy responsibility and toughness is needed in such situations. I question the use of mature workers, women in particular, as security officers, especially as they are unarmed. They are not physically strong and some are in their 50s. I am not against the use of mature workers but not in this area. It is different from guarding a condominium.
