I REFER to The Straits Times reports on aesthetic treatments which listed endermologie as being among the unproven treatments.
I would like to clarify that endermologie, by LPG, is a United States Food & Drug Administration-approved technique for the treatment of cellulite. Also, there are numerous clinical papers in established scientific journals, including Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal, supporting its efficacy and credibility.
Endermologie was originally developed in the late 1970s in France to soften scars and standardise physical therapy. However, patients treated with endermologie also showed improvement in body contour and skin texture. Since then, it has been used in France, the US and many other countries as an alternative method to alter fat distribution in the subcutaneous plane. Physician users have continued their study to determine the safety and efficacy of the technique (Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal. 22:145-153, 1998).
In fact, endermologie is a worldwide accepted technique that is practised in more than 70 countries, in hospitals and clinics alike, by physicians in various disciplines, such as aestheticians and plastic surgeons.
