MANY Singaporeans have been complaining about how foreigners are taking away their jobs in Singapore. However, when I placed a job advertisement in The Straits Times recently, I was flooded with applicants on the very day the ad appeared. Of the more than 50 applicants, three were Malaysians, one was Singaporean and the rest were from the Philippines, Myanmar and China.
To date, I have received many more applications, all from foreigners. This shows how hungry for jobs foreigners are and how jobs from small companies such as mine are not drawing many Singaporeans.
So, stop blaming foreigners for taking away the jobs.
