Multiracialism: Marriage need not be the acid test
I REFER to the letter by Mr Nelson Quah, 'Acid test of multiracialism', last Saturday. Mr Quah says one should accept inter-racial marriage to be truly multiracial.

This is an erroneous opinion many have. Not hating or not detesting another race is itself a foundation of multiracialism. Working and dining together and inter-racial outings are acts of multiracial acceptance.

More significant acts are the hiring of employees from other races; and renting one's residence or office to races other than one's own. Multiracialism need not only be complete with a matrimonial arrangement.

Just because a person is disinclined to allow his son or daughter to marry out of his race does not mean he is racist. Let's not be unreasonable. There is nothing wrong in the fact that every denomination wants to maintain its practices, culture and precepts which are unique to it.
