BEING a businessman with offices in Circular Road, I wish to express my utter annoyance and incomprehension with the apparent waste of police resources over repeated alcohol-fuelled disturbances at all-night bars.
The incidents normally occur at a time of day when people are arriving on the street to commence their normal business routine.
Once again I have arrived at my desk but not before witnessing a large police presence and the arrest of a few individuals, obviously high on alcohol.
I counted 10 police officers and numerous police vehicles plus an ambulance which took away a young girl who looked very much the worse for wear.
In my two years working in Circular Road, this has become a regular occurrence and I have a simple question to ask of the police: Why not simply prohibit such bars from remaining open all night?
Surely the police can be better utilised elsewhere, rather than be acting as 'bouncers' at such bars and having to sweep up the human debris once matters get out of control.
