I AGREE with Monday's report, 'Some HDB residents unhappy despite freeze on S&C charges', that Housing Board fees are too high when booking facilities, compared with private apartments.
Last Saturday, I asked at the Jurong Town Council office in Bukit Batok about booking an open space or a void deck for a family function. I was told the fee was $50, excluding utility charges which were $20. Factor in GST and the bill amounted to $74.90.
Just before this, my relative booked a function hall at a condominium for a family event. Total charge: $20.
Why are residents of public housing charged a comparatively stiff fee to book a void deck - without air-conditioning?
