ROBERT LEE SIEW THYE, who says Hong Kong train announcements are in two languages and one dialect, contrary to the Singapore Transport Ministry's view that it is impractical for trains here. He thinks Hong Kong has achieved it because the messages are brief, concise and clear, whereas MRT train announcements are long and barely audible. Hong Kong train cabins also have lit route charts in English and Chinese to indicate the next station, unlike Singapore's which are in English and sandwiched by prominent advertisements
