I AM concerned about the danger posed by a tree in the compound of CHIJ Katong Primary School in Bedok, especially in view of the current rainy season.
This huge tree is located at the corner of the school near Gate No. 2 where parents and relatives of children usually gather to fetch them home.
On the stormy evening of Feb 28, I was walking towards the gate to fetch my granddaughter when a huge branch came crashing down from a height of some six to eight storeys, missing me by inches. It was at least 2m long with a girth of about 25cm. It fell some five to 10 minutes before the kids were released.
I shudder to think what would have happened if the branch had fallen later. I informed the school but do not know whether any preventive steps are being taken.
