Warranty issue means no 'green rebate' on car
I CONGRATULATE the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on its role in facilitating the Green Movement by introducing rebates for environment-friendly practices.

However, I wish to highlight the administrative lag in helping consumers to enjoy the rebates and encourage us to go green.

For instance, parallel importers have launched new cars which can be converted to compressed natural gas (CNG) in order to claim the rebate.

I decided to book a new car from a distributor, Borneo Motors, intending to run my vehicle on CNG by converting its fuel configuration.

However, Borneo Motors declined to help me register the car because it was concerned this might complicate the warranty on the car.

Now, I cannot enjoy the rebate.

Can the LTA help, given that this 'green rebate' is meant to help lower taxes on a car powered by environment-friendly fuel?
