Effects of F1 road closures on surrounding areas

Reader asks if closures will affect public convenience

HAVE the necessary considerations involving the public been made with regard to the Formula One motor-racing Grand Prix racedays, scheduled for Sept 26 to 28?

As with the the National Day Parade and International Monetary Fund meetings last year, will the authorities declare a public holiday when the Formula One circuit opens on Sept 26, which falls on Friday?

Or will office workers in the area be allowed to leave work early?

When will the roadblocks start and end? Will there be roadblocks continuously, that is, day and night?

While hotels will benefit from the events, what about shops, F&B and entertainment outlets in Marina Bay?

It appears that only pass holders who pay a minimum sum of $168 will be able to enter the area.Who will compensate these tenants? Have people who will be affected been informed, such as couples who booked their

hotel wedding dinners before the race date was announced?

Will there be any shows at the Esplanade? If so, how will people get there?

Will there be crowd control along Benjamin Sheares Bridge - probably the best place for an overview of the race?

Will there be traffic marshals on the outskirts of the F1 circuit to prevent motorists from parking irresponsibly, as often happens when there is a fireworks display?
