Ah Meng burial won't affect water in reservoir
I REFER to the letter, 'Ah Meng burial site a health hazard?' (ST, Feb 13), by Mr Wong Fook Seng. We would like to assure all readers that the site at Garden With A View will not affect the quality of water in Upper Seletar Reservoir.

The location was chosen after ensuring that pollution control measures were in place. It is separated by a 1.2m-deep stormwater drain, which diverts any runoff away from the reservoir. This drain, which runs along the entire perimeter of the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, ensures that no water-borne pollutants from the zoo grounds enter the reservoir.

We have also verified with PUB that the site would not affect the water.

The zoo takes stringent measures in disposing the carcasses of its animals. This is the first time that we have buried an animal on the zoo grounds - because Ah Meng was special not only to us but also to all who visited Singapore Zoo.
