Direct flights to Texas open up opportunities
I AM glad to know that Singapore Airlines will finally operate direct flights to the south-western American state of Texas, making Singapore the only South-east Asian country with a direct gateway to Texas.

With a population of nearly 25 million, Texas has long been a major economic hub of the United States and provides many opportunities for aspiring Singaporean entrepreneurs.

The state alone has more than 30 billionaires and is widely recognised throughout the US as one of the best states to do business in.

Texas has about 100,000 Asians and an increasing number of the Singaporean diaspora.

As I will be going to Texas next year, the operation of direct flights comes as good news to me as I would have had to transit through Tokyo and Los Angeles before reaching Houston if not for the new flight route.

I will definitely fly SIA to Houston next year.

I hope that in the near future, Singapore Airlines will expand its direct flights to the Texan mega city of Dallas-Fort Worth and other key cities such as San Antonio, El Paso and the state capital, Austin.
