ON JAN 20, I went to deposit cash at an OCBC Bank automated teller machine (ATM) at Causeway Point.
I was prompted to key in the amount I wanted to deposit. I keyed in $600 and deposited my money.
But instead of the usual receipt showing that my money had been deposited, it said the machine was unable to process my request and would do so the next working day. The amount shown on the receipt was $600. Yet, the next working day, the bank credited $500.
When I spoke to the bank's customer service, I was told the amount had been checked and it tallied with the bank's total, so my deposit amount could not have been $600. I was told if I wanted to dispute this, I would have to make a police report.
I am extremely disappointed at the way the bank handled the matter. I trusted the bank to make a deposit, yet I was made to seem like it was my fault, and doubt was even cast on my memory.
If the machine could not process the deposit, it should not have accepted the money or shown the amount as $600.
