Better interaction at future bursary awards
I REFER to Mr N. Nageswaran's letter, 'Bursary presentation was too rushed' (ST, Jan 18).

The Edusave Awards are presented together with the CDC-CCC University Bursary Awards, which the grassroots also contribute to from funds they have raised.

The presentation ceremony is held annually by the grassroots organisations (GROs) so that recipients and their families may identify with the community they live in.

It also offers an opportunity for interaction among residents from the same constituency, including the recipients, their families and grassroots leaders.

There were about 1,300 recipients in the Punggol Central Division this year. The presentation ceremony was divided into three sessions so that the recipients did not need to wait too long to receive their awards.

There was an hour's break in between the sessions to allow for photography opportunities and time for interaction among the recipients, their families, grassroots leaders and the adviser to the GROs.

I thank Mr Nageswaran for his feedback and suggestions. We will continue to improve the presentation ceremony to offer more meaningful interaction among the recipients, their families and our grassroots leaders.

I would also like to invite Mr Nageswaran and his family to take part in our CC's activities to pursue their interests and make new friends.
