I HAVE observed several instances recently of Certis Cisco vehicles parked along main roads where parking is clearly illegal because it may cause congestion.
For example, on Tuesday at 11am, Certis Cisco vehicles YK 3352 K and YK 3801 G were parked in Jalan Sultan in front of Textile Centre. The next day at 12.30pm, YJ 8666 C was parked in Claymore Road next to Orchard Towers taxi stand. I have also noticed a Certis Cisco vehicle parked in Orchard Road next to Wisma Atria and the Orchard MRT station entrance.
Although marked 'Auxiliary Police', the vehicles concerned were obviously conducting commercial activities such as transferring money to bank ATMs and transporting security guards to private establishments.
I can fully understand them parking like this if they were supporting police enforcement action. But since they were not doing so in these instances, should they not obey the law like other private and commercial vehicle users?
Can the Traffic Police and Certis Cisco clarify if Certis Cisco vehicles are exempt from the law? Or should they set an example for other road users and park in designated areas to unload cargo and drop off personnel?
