Korean girl already admitted to a school
MISS Kim Seo Eun expressed concern about being unable to obtain a place in a primary school here ('Korean girl seeks 'dream' chance to study here'; ST, Jan 1).

The Ministry of Education (MOE) understands that one of the schools which Miss Kim's family had applied to had a vacancy and had in fact arranged for Miss Kim to sit for

the school's placement test on Dec 27, a few days before her letter was published.

Miss Kim was offered a place in the school at a level appropriate to her abilities on Dec 31.

We look forward to her starting school in Singapore.

Foreign students seeking admission to our schools can either approach our schools directly or approach MOE for help to identify schools with vacancies.

Admission is subject to available vacancies and the student meeting the school's admission criteria.

Director, School Planning & Placement
