I READ with interest recent articles in The Straits Times regarding Singapore's intention to hold the Night Formula One next year and the Motorcross at Lorong Halus.
While I am not against either of these events and do attend them as and whenever I could, as one of the founding members of the Environmental Engineering Society of Singapore and having done substantial noise measurements at race circuits in the United Kingdom, I would suggest that the authorities do not overlook the noise aspects of these events. Night-time noise is a particularly annoying problem and should not be taken lightly, especially in a small and densely populated country like Singapore.
