I AM delighted to read that opposition MPs and the PAP will be working together for the benefit of Singaporeans living in the opposition wards ('Opposition MPs, PAP rivals team up for estate upgrading'; ST, Nov 6).
This win-win partnership to make the estates barrier-free for the elderly and disabled will be good for residents, visitors and Singaporeans in general. We should not penalise Singaporeans residing in opposition wards.
The ruling party is now working with the opposition parties for a common cause. This change in stance by the PAP is very much welcome.
Just as we now have a responsible and reliable opposition in Parliament, we also have a caring and capable government that looks into the welfare of all Singaporeans, in all estates.
I hope that the Lift Upgrading Programme will soon be extended to fellow Singaporeans living in Hougang and Potong Pasir.
Regardless of the wards that we live in, we can all proudly proclaim, 'Majulah Singapura!'
