PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I REFER to Mr Cheng Howe Ming's letter, 'AG spokesman wasn't commenting on case'' on Wednesday written on behalf of the Attorney-General's Chambers.
ALTHOUGH it is heartening to note that the remarks of the spokesman for the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) were not made specifically in response to Mr William Ding's case, it is troubling that the views expressed in those remarks continue to be thought of as legitimate.
DR NORMAN Vasu's letter on Wednesday, 'If they're old enough to defend Singapore...', argued that the voting age should be linked to the age at which young men enter national service.

EQUATING serving national service (NS) to qualifying to vote is wrong.
IT WAS raining when I read the report about the decommissioning of our six missile gunboats. Many Singaporeans from an older generation like mine had become accustomed to the silhouette of these six beautiful 'ladies'; the unmistakable radar dome in mid-ship, the 57mm Bofor gun near the bow and the clean Harpoon tubes in the stern.
ON MONDAY, I returned from a shopping trip in Johor Baru and was shocked to be detained by Immigration and Customs Authority officers at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
Unfair that parents have to volunteer so much of their time without guarantee of a place for their children.
I REFER to Wednesday's report on giving scholarships to students from poor families, 'New scholarships to give weaker students a chance''.
THE devastation the massive earthquake has wrought on the people of Sichuan province is unfathomable to us in Singapore. Nargis, the cyclone that wreaked havoc on the lives of some 2.5 million Myanmarese, is a news bite.

ONLINE LETTERS
I WAS 'attacked' by a Jack Russell terrier once while I was in a park with my five-year-old boy. I was jogging and my boy was riding his small bike.
I REFER to the article, 'Fare cheats to be fined $20 from July' (May 3).
I NOTICED that most Myanmar and Filipino frontliners at Watsons are more courteous and friendly than the locals. I had a very bad experience on Tuesday at about 7.30pm at Downtown East Watson.

THE rates which hotels are charging these days seem to be making it difficult for overseas clients and tourists to remain in Singapore for too long, let alone come here.
WE REFER to the letter, 'What's the point of paying Case membership fees if it can't solve my problem?' by Mr Loh De Liang (May 1).
