PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I REFER to Thursday's letter, 'Puzzled over stiff, weekly price rises at FairPrice' by Madam Lily Cheong.
Why is its price not significantly lower than, say, Sheng Siong?
I READ last Thursday's report, 'Hospital with a cure for poor ratings' with surprise. National University Hospital (NUH) certainly deserves better than the last-place rating it received in the Health Ministry's survey on patient satisfaction.

I REFER to the letter, 'Cemetery's swarming worry' (April 25). We assure Mr Teo Meng Toon that cemeteries are checked regularly to remove potential mosquito-breeding habitats. To this end, the National Environment Agency (NEA) engages contractors to clean and remove unwanted items on cemetery grounds. Apart from installing more litterbins, we deploy more workers to remove and dispose of flower containers, food offerings and items left behind by visitors during Qing Ming.
I REFER to Friday's May Day Rally report, 'Jobs for Singaporeans: WP challenged to act on its words'.
I REFER to the recent debate on foreign workers in Singapore, as highlighted in Saturday's report, 'Workers' Party and NTUC spar over foreign workers'. The Workers' Party (WP) had asked how the Government and the labour movement will ensure 'the dignity and societal position of Singaporean workers are not compromised'.
I REFER to the reports, 'FAS' about-turn in Alam Shah's case a let-down' last Thursday and 'Fined $1,000 for hitting taxi driver' last Wednesday as well as the letters on Friday, 'FAS should not have gone soft on Alam Shah' and 'Question the timing'.

IS A stored value card such as the Cashcard truly necessary as part of the collection mechanism in our electronic road pricing system? The Cashcard system for the ERP has brought about unnecessary worries.
LET'S face it - Singaporeans are by and large a pragmatic and practical bunch of people. To see a marked shift to public transport by private car owners, public transport operators should improve their service.
ON APRIL 25, I took a Silvercab and reached my destination at about 11.25am. Shortly after alighting, I realised to had left my laptop bag at the back seat of the taxi. But the driver had driven off despite my attempt to catch his attention.

I JOINED the queue at Swensen Tampines Mall on Saturday, hoping to make a reservation for Mother's Day celebration.
I WAS rather amused by Sidhant Srikumar's letter on Saturday, 'One reason illegal downloading happens''. In it, he cited the lack of availability of a CD as a reason why people download illegally.
I REFER to Thursday's online letter by Mr Syu Ying Kwok, 'Go green, SP Services'. We share Mr Syu's concern in the conservation of the environment. To reduce the use of paper, we have been printing utility bills on both sides of the paper since March last year. We have also introduced electronic billing.
