PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I AM saddened to read about young Russell Koh, who died after he was flung out of the minibus he was in on Thursday when it collided with two cars, in Saturday's front-page report ('Minibus crash').
THE minibus crash resulting in the death of Russell Koh last Thursday could have been prevented if the authorities had heeded the call, time and again, to make seat belts mandatory on school buses.
'My deepest condolences to the grieving parents for the loss of their child.'

I REFER to last Saturday's report, 'Smoking to be allowed at Singapore casino gaming halls'.
I REFER to Mr N. Rajendran's letter last Tuesday, 'Good for these expat Indians'. I thank him for shedding light on what is undoubtedly a complicated subject: the financial situation of Indian Singaporeans relative to that of the population at large.
I REFER to last Saturday's letter, 'Sorry, no help for you', by Madam Law Kim Yin.
I REFER to Mr Francis Heng's letter last Saturday ('Malaysian trains causing noise and health problems'), which shows that, as we progress, we are less tolerant of things that were the norm during our early years.

ONLINE LETTERS
IT IS good that consumers who have signed up for timeshare contracts are given a three-day cooling period to reconsider and that they can cancel their membership within this period. However, refunds after cancellation take a long, long time.
I AM disappointed with the Media Development Authority's imposition of a fine on MediaCorp Channel 5 for airing an episode of a reality show depicting a gay couple with their adopted child on Jan 13.
I RECENTLY sent in an application to Great Eastern to upgrade my ElderShield policy. When I received a letter indicating how much I had to top up, I wondered how they arrived at the amount, which was to be deducted in April. This is in addition to the premium I had to pay on the policy's anniversary date.

AS A frequent user of the National Library, I would like to highlight a perennial problem faced by library patrons and hope that the National Library Board (NLB) can take action to improve the situation.
I AM happy to read yesterday's article, 'Eat for $2 or less - new website tells you where'. In an extremely difficult period of global price rise in almost all food items, it must be good news for many to know that you can get a decent meal for $2 or less in Singapore.
