PRINT EDITION LETTERS
THE recent case of Aniza Essa who manipulated her young l7-year-old lover, Muhammad Nasir Abdul Aziz, to kill her husband illustrates three areas of law in need of reform.
I THANK readers who have written in about TV Mobile's sound levels on public buses.
MR SONG Yee Soon proposed that the household income ceiling be raised to more than $8,000 for high-end Housing Board flat buyers ('Raise income ceiling on HDB flats over $500k', April 16).
AS I was driving to work on Monday morning, one topic caught my attention on the radio. It was a discussion of whether the Government should allow Medisave to pay for overseas medical treatment. Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said that, subject to careful evaluation, he supported use of Medisave funds for treatment by overseas doctors. The worry seemed to be a deliberately planned drain of retirement money outside Singapore.
I WOULD like to take a different angle on the Mas Selamat Kastari episode and focus on the potential negative impression of the future of Singapore - yes, our youth.
I REFER to the report, 'Looking beyond disAbility' (April 12).
I REFER to the report, 'Looking beyond disAbility' (April 12), which highlighted several sheltered workshops.
I REFER to the letter, 'Have separate bin to recycle batteries' by Mr Andrew Wee last Thursday.
'An overseas friend is staying at the Summer View Hotel in Bencoolen Street. She says she is charged for incoming calls.'
ONLINE LETTERS
THIS letter is meant to encourage teachers who toil but do not get the recognition they deserve. My wife is a teacher, so I understand what goes a teacher goes through every day. Being a teacher in Singapore is not an easy task. Teachers are so tied down with other non-teaching tasks that most of them find it hard to cope.
I REFER to recent reports on kickbacks to hire foreign workers. Let me relate my experience. I have been in the construction industry for more than 20 years.
THERE is a danger that some people reading Monday's letter by Dr John Hui Keem Peng, 'It's not 'safe sex' with the use of condoms', might eschew the use of condom because they might mistakenly interpret the writer's warning that condoms are useless against all forms of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
LET me at the outset clarify that I do not have any intention of having arguments and counter-arguments with Mr Bhajan Singh, president of the Board for the Teaching and Testing of South Asian Languages.
FIRST, I would like to thank Mr Bhajan Singh for his response on Monday, 'Steps to improve teaching of non-Tamil Indian languages'.
THE World Book of Encyclopedia has classified Singapore as having a highly developed social welfare system for handicapped children.
THANK you for your excellent article of an Air India pilot, Capt Rana, offloading an Indian Member of Parliament, Mr P.V. Abdul Wahab, for alleged misbehaviour.
I WOULD like to respond to Ms Mathangi Kumar's letter, 'Women's group can help teens on sexuality' (April 17).
