THURSDAY'S response by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), 'Causeway jam: ICA doing its best to ease woes', to an earlier letter which asked when things would return to normal at both checkpoints, misses the point.
'Until the findings of the Committee of Inquiry are made known, the minister-in-charge should find ways to ease the hardships faced by the public, especially at the two land crossings to Malaysia.'
IT WAS raining heavily on March 12 as I passed, on the Seletar Expressway at Woodlands, lines of security personnel standing at 10m to 20m intervals, staring at the forested area.

'I hope MOH will go one step further and investigate beauty and slimming salons as well.'
I REFER to Mr Paul Antony Fernandez's letter on Thursday, 'Advice to Chee: Don't waste taxpayers' money', which was written in response to last Sunday's report, 'SDP holds illegal protest against rising consumer prices; 12 held'.
MR NOR Azam Ahmad must be commended on his suggestion yesterday that taxis be allowed to alight passengers anywhere but pick up only at taxi stands. It is true that cabbies make sudden swerves or stops when they see a prospective passenger but not when they drop off passengers. Also, they usually line up their vehicle way in advance to alight passengers.
I REFER to Wednesday's letter by Mr Tan Thiam Huat, 'HDB facilities costlier'. He compared the Jurong Town Council (JTC) booking fee for an open space or void deck with the $20 booking fee for a function hall in a condominium.
I REFER to the letter, 'Offer day season tickets in HDB carparks' by Mr Daniel Tan (March 14).
SHOULD parents sign a waiver of liability for personal injury, death and indemnity for a minor? Recently, after signing up my child for a dance course at Moving Arts Studio at Bishan Community Club, I was asked to fill in a registration form and agree to its terms and conditions. One clause absolved the company of personal injury or death arising from the child's participation. I told the studio I would not sign the waiver and asked if my child could still be accepted.

IN LIGHT of the recent commemoration of Singapore's first Chief Minister David Marshall's 100th birthday anniversary last Thursday, 'He made us dream of independence', and Saturday (the Review section), let us take this opportunity as well to pay our deepest tribute and appreciation to the contributions made by the founding fathers of modern Singapore. This includes the orbit of Mr Lee Kuan Yew's Cabinet of ministers such as Dr Toh Chin Chye, Dr Goh Keng Swee and Mr S. Rajaratnam. Just as importantly, those who lie in the periphery of history should not be forgotten. This includes Lim Chin Siong and Devan Nair, whose actions have impacted our lives so greatly and yet seemingly taken for granted.
AFTER reading the article about the cyclist who chained up a National Library Board door in a fit of anger, I have to say that the behaviour of cyclist Bin Hee Heng should not be tolerated. These are my reasons.
I REFER to the online letter, 'Lecturer belittles 'weak' poly student at NUS open house' on Wednesday. We are sorry to hear that Ms Ong had an unpleasant experience during her visit to the National University of Singapore (NUS) Open House.

ON MARCH 14, my friends and I ordered food from McDonald's to be delivered to our place in Dundee Road behind Queenstown MRT station. The staff told us that it would take about 45 to 50 minutes.
I JOIN the many other people frustrated and disappointed with Singapore Airlines' decision to eliminate economy seats on all its non-stop flights to the United States. Singapore now fails to stack up against its regional competitors. Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Sydney and Auckland all have multiple non-stop flights with Economy class. But now Taipei, Mumbai and Bangkok all have at least one non-stop flight.
