ALLOW me to refer to Transport Minister Raymond Lim's point in Parliament last week about public transport.
I GRADUATED from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Yishun in National ITE certificate (Nitec) in communication technology. I achieved a GPA score of 4.0 and was awarded a certificate of merit, a prestigious award given to ITE students who perform exceptionally well.
I HAVE tried the new taxi scheme for a week - but, sorry, it doesn't work for me. For years, the Government has worked relentlessly, and so successfully, to make it 'easier to do business here'.

No taxi is allowed to stop in front of our outlets from 7am to 10pm, which includes our lunch and dinner operating hours.
WE HAVE heard a minister advise parliamentarians 'to spew forth with passion your Hokkien lyrics and poetic metaphors' (the Speak Mandarin Campaign notwithstanding) to persuade constituents about the merits of recent CPF changes. I'm not sure about 'spewing forth', but he is right about the persuasive power of 'poetic metaphors'. Nothing quite matches poetry (or poetic prose) for eloquence and, to quote the English poet Robert Graves, for 'sense; good sense; penetrating, often heart-rending sense'.
He was found by the Feedback Unit to be one against whom there was no official complaint.
He was found by the Bureau of Statistics to be
THERE is a significant disparity between season parking fees in multi-storey or sheltered carparks and traditional unsheltered carparks.
I REFER to last Friday's reply by Mr Lo Tak Wah of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, 'Options available for earlier CPF returns', in response to my query last Wednesday ('CPF investment funds: Move them more quickly').

I HAVE been following with interest the debate on respecting the needs of various groups when it comes to food, especially in the local school system. There is one minority group that has been sadly overlooked. This is the group of little ones who, for various reasons ranging from religious to medical, have opted to adopt vegetarianism. The more developed countries are adopting vegetarian-friendly policies. In Singapore, I have noticed a growing trend towards vegetarianism. Even hawker centres now have at least one vegetarian stall. So why are our school canteens lagging sadly behind?
I WISH to highlight a few problems regarding the Nokia XpressMusic promotional drive where SBS buses are retrofitted with an in-built lounge design. This campaign is refreshing and innovative in a way that the conventional seating arrangements in normal buses were abandoned and MRT-style seating is adopted. However, the design of these buses and their running time pose some questions.
I CALLED for a taxi on Feb 4 and booking was confirmed at 8.55pm. I was told to expect the cab within seven to 10 minutes. I took about seven minutes to reach the pick-up location at the HarbourFront Centre taxi stand and saw the cab driver beckoning two passengers to his cab. Feeling puzzled, I questioned the cab driver who waved his arms at me and repeatedly said: 'Just call and cancel' in a dismissive tone and drove off with the passengers.

ON JAN 12, I sent a new tablet laptop to Hewlett-Packard's service centre to repair a faulty stylus pen slot. Three days later, I received a call from the service centre informing me that the fault could not be rectified due to the manufacturer's defect. They offered me a one-for-one exchange but it would take about two weeks for a replacement.
WE REFER to yesterday's online letter from Mr Jeffrey Lim Yin Cheong, '14 months to learn church's decision on donation refund', regarding his request for a refund of donations made to City Harvest Church. We will fully investigate the matter and immediate action will be taken to rectify any lapses in the communication process between our staff and church members.
IN A strange endeavour to upgrade the status of a bus driver, he has now been described as a bus 'captain' - a designation which should apply only to a leader of men - despite the fact that a bus driver nowadays does not even have a bus conductor under his command. Even if such a change in nomenclature did occur, I am sure that the public would still refer to him as a 'bus driver', a term which has never been thought of as derogatory.
IN RESPONSE to MP Seng Han Thong's support for bus captains who work long hours to ensure that we reach our destinations daily, shall we declare a Bus Captains' week? We have Secretaries' week, Bosses' Day, Mother's Day, International Women's Day, so it's about time this group of special people is recognised.
