PRINT EDITION LETTERS
THE process of calling for extraordinary general meetings (EGMs) for the purpose of an en bloc sale can be abused because of a legislative loophole.
WE REFER to the recent letters on police presence and road safety and thank the writers for their feedback and their concern. The police adopt a multi-pronged approach of proactive policing, public education, community involvement and technology.
I APPLAUD last Sunday's police action in curbing drink driving. It is one of the worst crimes on our roads. Here is how I suggest we rid our roads and highways of drink driving:
ONE weekday afternoon, I went to a POSB bank for banking services.
I REFER to the letter, 'Customers come first? Not for Singapore Flyer' (Feb 18) by Mrs Rita Aspen.
I REFER to Mr Francis Cheng Choon Fei's letter, 'Shocked by decision to close Safra Town Club gym' (Feb 12) and seek our members' understanding.
I REFER to the letter, 'Drop cash-in machine's confusing step' by Mr U Kyaw Oo (Feb 11).
I REFER to the letter, 'Speed up construction of build-to-order projects' by Ms Chua Hwee Hoon (Feb 11).
If Spielberg feels he should send a strong message to China, then I humbly suggest he suspends all his commercial ties with China, including the withdrawal of all his videos and films from being marketed in the country.
ONLINE LETTERS
IT WAS reported recently in The Straits Times that the country planners are toying with the idea of a 6.5 million city state.
MUCH talk has gone on about transport woes and solutions in the last three weeks with great energy, ideas and discussion surfacing from the many writers writing in and participating on the web. Let me put together some views and a personal reflection from these collective thoughts.
I REFER to the letter, 'ERP: Do away with CashCards altogether' (ST, Feb15).
I WAS given a notice of service interruption by StarHub on Tuesday.
MY FAMILY and I have been in Singapore since the 1990s and have enjoyed our stay here and we decided to become citizens in the year 2000.
WE WERE presented with a bit of humour on the morning of Feb 20 when a reply, to 'Cyclist v pedestrian: whose right of way?' (ST, Feb 20), from 'sadnohadnoh' said: 'Cyclists of course'.
ON JAN 4, I sent in my cellphone to Nokia Service Centre in Tampines for repair.
WE REFER to the letter by Mr Tan Siang Meng, 'Does Esplanade block phone signals?' (Online forum, Feb 19).
