PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I READ with interest your report, 'Reality's a hard taskmaster' (ST, Feb 15), in which Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said our brain drain problem is 'pretty serious'.
I REFER to the letter, 'SIA should have shown more understanding' (ST, Feb9), by Mr Law Cher Khiam. We have apologised to Mr Law for the unpleasant incident.
WE AGREE with Ms Salma Khalik that 'Insurance alone cannot pay the big bills' (ST, Feb 13). Health-care financing requires all stakeholders - patients, employers, insurers and the Government - to play their part. Hence, we have heavy subsidies at B2/C level, with co-payment by patients through their Medisave and MediShield, supplemented by employers' medical benefits.
I REFER to the letter, 'Ah Meng burial site a health hazard?' (ST, Feb 13), by Mr Wong Fook Seng. We would like to assure all readers that the site at Garden With A View will not affect the quality of water in Upper Seletar Reservoir.
I REFER to the report, 'FI ticketing fiasco' (ST, Feb15). I wish to relate another fiasco that happened on Feb14 here - the Singapore Flyer fiasco.
I REFER to the letter, 'Public toilets at NUH in shocking state' (ST, Feb15), by Mr Wee Kek Koon.
I REFER to the report, '12 sites set aside for new hotels to ease room crunch' (ST, Feb15).
I WAS eating my breakfast at a food centre in Jurong East on Feb 9 when there was a sudden commotion.
ONLINE LETTERS
I REFER to MM Lee's comments that many locals leave Singapore for work abroad annually, 'S'pore losing about 1,000 capable people every year' (ST, Feb 15).
THE issues in en-bloc sales stem from the rush to redevelop older condos and the resulting lack of mutual benefits between buyers and sellers.
WITH Formula One coming to Singapore from Sept 26 to 28, I wonder if the public has been given due consideration.
AFTER reading the article, 'No Spielberg magic for Beijing Olympics', I felt sad that Steven Spielberg had mixed politics with sports.
I FULLY agree with the views of Mr Dudley Au whose letter, 'Forum not a place for personal affronts or sarcastic remarks' (Online forum, Feb 14), is a wake-up call to editorial staff of The Straits Times to be more vigilant in nailing the culprits to the wall.
WE REFER to the letter, 'Poser on insurance in hit-and-run case' (Online forum, Feb 11), by Mr Noel Pereira.
I REFER to the letter by Ms Angela Ang, 'SIA shoddily handled extra baggage allowance request' (Online forum, Feb 7).
I REFER to the letter, 'Killing them not the solution, let's sterilise them instead', (Online forum, Feb 6).
