PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I APPRECIATE the efforts by the Ministry of Transport to enhance efficiency and reduce congestion on the roads. However, the new Thomson and Eastern Region MRT lines will be ready only in a decade. The entire Circle Line will be operational only in one to two years' time. Will these MRT lines be able to keep up with rising transport demand?
SINGAPORE plans for a 6.5 million population in the next few decades. The problem is limited land resource.
I REFER to the report, 'CapitaLand tells Gillman Heights owners to honour sale' (ST, Feb 2). The news, like that of Horizon Towers and Regent Garden, bears similar learning lessons. They concern sellers in a collective property sale who refuse to accede to the terms of the contract they signed with the buyers. The lessons we can draw from these three examples are:
I REFER to the letter, 'Couldn't intruder plane have landed at Seletar?' by Mr Anthony Leong Chee-Hong (ST, Jan 26).
TO ENSURE safety messages get through to local and foreign workers, employers should put up warning signs in the languages of their employees.
THE higher MediShield premiums announced by Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan ('Only ways to contain costs'; ST, Feb 4) are not only untimely but also unjustifiable.
PLEASE refer to the article, 'Lack of cash, info - so many don't sign up for Workfare' (ST, Jan 25), and the letter, 'Bring back original Workfare Bonus Scheme' by Mr Tommy Tng of the Society for the Physically Disabled Ability Enterprise (ST, Jan 26).
I REFER to the article, 'Families flock to get maid levy rebate for disabled' (ST, Jan 25).
I TOOK a Comfort taxi on Jan 10 and left my cellphone on the back seat. I called Comfort Lost and Found and the kind operator, Ms Jean Ho, located the taxi. I would like to thank Mr Tan Soo Peng of taxi SHC 1873 E for returning my phone promptly.
ONLINE LETTERS
MR KISHORE Mahbubani's article, 'Buying books in aid of literature' (The Sunday Times, Feb 3), touches a soft spot in my heart as I have always been a voracious reader since my secondary school days at the old Raffles Institution in Bras Basah Road.
I READ with interest MM Lee's comment on the proposed solution to ease the traffic jam problem in Singapore.
I FOLLOW with great interest the developments in our road usage schemes and the Government's determination to crack the traffic congestion problem.
I REFER to the article, 'PacNet to turn in anime downloaders to studios' (ST, Jan 30).
I REFER to the recent deaths of two young men who did not wear seatbelts in the back seat of their friend's car.
I WOULD like to raise a few issues related to the Lions' third round Asian World Cup qualifying campaign which begins in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Feb 6.
I WOULD like Case to enlighten me on my consumer right.
I REFER to the letter, 'No claims but premium up' by Mr Yeo Shuan Chee (The Sunday Times, Feb 2).
RECENTLY, there has been an increase in the number of tertiary institutions advertising their open house events and faculties on bus and train panels, newspapers, advertisement stands at bus stops and even on TV Mobile.
