ON TUESDAY, when I went to purchase a ticket for an opera performance from Sistic, I was told that I no longer qualified for the full-time student concession because I was over the age of 18. I am a full-time student in a local polytechnic and I graduate only in May.
IN THE letter, 'Exempt hospital fees, medicine from GST' (ST, Jan 28), Mr Anthony Oei cited the Jan 21 reply in Parliament by the Ministry of Health, and suggested that the Government exempts hospital fees, medicine and medical-related equipment from GST.
I REFER to the letter from Mr Tan Jin Chye, 'SCDF should protect informants' particulars' (ST, Jan 25).
I REFER to the letter by Mr George Campbell, 'Be flexible with contact lens solution on planes' (ST, Jan 21).
I FORMALLY made Singapore my adopted home and took up citizenship in 2006. I believe that my family and I will make many contributions. We are currently posted overseas and look forward to returning home in March.

IS IT really true that more research papers published equal a higher chance of promotion for professors in our local universities? It is claimed that putting efforts in teaching will not get a professor very far.
ON JAN 22, I, together with some other fellow Hindus and curious sightseers, attended the Thaipusam festival at the two major temples in Serangoon and Tank roads.
SCRATCHES and damage to cellphones and PDAs are very common because of the very way they are used. In fact, I had previously replaced the cracked LCD of my Nokia phone that was under warranty.
I WENT to Tong Shui Cafe in Liang Seah Street last week with my colleagues, keen to try its specialty toast.
I AM shocked that Singapore Sailing president Low Teo Ping saw it fit to call Tao Li a greedy grabbing athlete, 'Tao Li taken to task over comments' (ST, Jan 29).
I JUST returned to Singapore after an overseas assignment and was shocked to see that the pace here has quickened a lot. It could be that I have yet to adjust back to the hectic pace here.
