THE SMRT annual report for 2007 raises some questions about our rail system.
EVERY day, I take the North-South Line to work. For the past years, I had been satisfied with the service standard of the SMRT, until recently.
I FOLLOWED with interest the recent reports and discussions on the revamp of the transport system. I have two points to raise.

IN THE ongoing upgrading works at Orchard MRT station, MRTC had sealed all the escape routes and rerouted commuters and pedestrians through one long route to the ground level.
I WAS surprised to see a Corrective Works Order (CWO) session in full swing at the East Coast Park on Jan 19. I had thought the CWO was a thing of the past.
IN THE article, 'More help could be on the way for very poor' (ST, Jan 23), Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan acknowledged that needy residents usually need more than the public assistance (PA) handout to survive.
AS A person who had carried the palkuddam (pot of milk), I write to express my unhappiness on the confusion over the date for the event. Whatever the reasons for changing the Thaipusam festival date from Jan 23 to Jan 22, it had taken the public completely by surprise.
THE recent intrusion into our airspace not only caused much inconvenience to air travellers, operators, the airport authorities, police, our defence forces, etc, but also cost the Government to incur unnecessary expenses which were ultimately borne by taxpayers.

I FIND Ms Thiang Jie Ting's paean to technology, advertising and the so-called 'media-boom' to be intriguing, 'Advertising platforms take on a creative twist' (ST, Jan 26).
I AM writing to advise patients to always counter-check the medication/vaccination administered by doctors.

MY MUM bought two packets of TimeOut chocolate from Watsons in Tampines Mall about one and a half weeks ago.
