THERE is too high a concentration of economic activities in our Central Business District. Also, the day population in the city is a few times larger than the night population. We need to focus on these two elements in our long-term urban and transportation planning.
MORE than 60 motorists were caught running red lights daily last year.
I HAD the opportunity to visit Terminal 3 when I was at Changi Airport last Sunday to receive a visitor from Sydney. Without exaggeration, it is a truly world-class terminal.

ON TUESDAY Singapore's airspace was infiltrated by a civilian Cessna 208. It was escorted by two of our fighter jets to land at Changi, causing our international airport to be closed for close to an hour. Why was it necessary for the small plane to land at Changi? We have another civilian airport at Seletar, and military airbases that could have been used to avoid causing disruption, or alarm to passengers.
I TOOK a trip to town over the weekend and it was interesting to watch Tunnel TV while in the train, to look at children playing with interactive 'step-ons' at Paragon Shopping Centre and to receive SMS advertisements when I entered Takashimaya.

FEW can argue with the commentary, 'Help the kids of families in distress' (ST, Jan 18).
I REFER to the letter by Mr Syu Ying Kwok, 'Changi's T3 a beauty but will it make money?' (ST, Jan 11).
IN THE article, '$288,000 'investment gone wrong'' (ST, Jan 23), Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) president Loh Lin Kok was quoted as saying that an expensive $288,000 mistake was 'a total loss'.

THE Lunar New Year is the most important festival in Chinese culture, similar to the Hari Raya festival in Malay culture and the Deepavali festival in Indian culture.
I CANNOT agree more with Mr David Choo Kia Pew's letter, 'Bak kwa at $50 a kilo? He will give it a miss' (ST, Jan 23).
ALMOST one year ago, there was a peanut butter recall exercised by ConAgra Foods, the manufacturer of Peter Pan, following a salmonella scare in the United States.
MY WIFE bought a Nokia 5610 cellphone on Dec 31. A few days later, the phone malfunctioned and she had to send the phone to Nokia Customer Care Centre in Tampines.
I REFER to the letters, 'No response from SingTel on requests made on mio helpline' by Mrs Chow Yook Wai (Online forum, Jan 18) and 'Paying for SingTel mio service complainant could not use' by Mr Lee Meng Liang (Online forum, Jan 19).
