TRAIN services were disrupted on Monday morning. I arrived at the Pasir Ris MRT station at 8am during the disruption and was advised to take the free shuttle bus to Tanah Merah Station.
AS THE disruption in train service on the East-West Line on Monday occurred early in the morning, train operator SMRT had more than enough time to run a notification on the radio or morning TV news.
I AM writing to express my concern about the way SMRT handled the disruption in train service on Monday morning.
THE article, 'Hotel rooms during F1 race period going fast' (ST, Jan 19), suggested that one reason for the higher hotel rates during the race here is that 'the Government will be imposing a special F1 levy on the total room revenue from Sept 24 to 28 - the week of the race'.
I REFER to the article, 'No room for abused women at shelters' (ST, Jan 17).
I REFER to Mr Yong Kum Thong's letter, 'GIC investment in Citi may not be that safe' (ST, Jan 22). The points he raised have indeed been taken into account in the GIC investment process.
I REFER to the letter from Mr Chan Han Jun, 'Review criteria of HDB design-&-build scheme' (ST, Jan 8).
EVEN before the advent of Chinese New Year, prices of bak kwa (barbecued pork) have surged. Two leading stores are charging from $43 to $46 a kilogram.

IT WAS like a breath of fresh air when I read the article about 'Getting to know your neighbours' with Miel's cartoon showing a smiling woman poking her head from her flat with an equally happy cat beside her (The Sunday Times, Jan 13).
I WILL like to share my view on the train disruption that occurred on Monday morning.
I WAS one of the thousands of people caught in the disruption at Simei station on Monday morning.
I RECENTLY purchased a Nokia E65 from a StarHub shop. However, when I took it home, I found that the phone had a defect.
NTUC Income has set up a permanent booth at the Sengkang MRT station. What started initially as polite soliciting by the NTUC Income agents is now creating a nuisance.
THE letter, 'Salespeople at Sim Lim need to take a few lessons in good manners and common decency' (Online forum, Jan 19), struck a chord with me.
I READ the article, 'Fengshui master says Sports Hub will prosper for 100 years' (ST, Jan 21), with interest.
I WAS watching Channel 8 a few days ago when I saw an advertisement for the variety show, 'The Essential Lunar New Year Guide 2008'.
