PRINT EDITION LETTERS
CHINESE New Year is just around the corner. During this busy festive period, most shops will do a roaring business selling new year decorations, food and clothes. However, we must not be complacent and let making a profit take precedence over safety.
I READ about the accidents involving five lorries and 53 injuries ('5 lorries, 2 collisions, 53 injured'; ST, Jan 18).
A FEW weeks ago, I had to change planes at Changi Airport and a month later, I left Singapore after stopping for a few days on my way home to Australia. On both occasions, attempts were made to prevent me taking my contact lens solution on board.
I REFER to the letters, 'Make public aware of train seats for elderly' by Ms Delphine Chin Mei Foong (ST, Jan 3) and 'Priority seats on trains: They work in Taiwan' by Ms Linda Cheng (ST, Jan 10).
MR MICHAEL Loke Ming-Yen's letter ('Invest more resources in children's sports'; ST, Jan 11) highlighted that Dr Istvan Balyi's Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model recommended that 11-year-olds continue to engage in other sporting activities in addition to their preferred sport.
I WOULD like to thank Sergeant Jimmy Woon and all the firefighters from the Alexandra Fire Station for accommodating our request to visit the station about two weeks ago.
ONLINE LETTERS
NEWS reports carried in a local daily recently partly attributed the cancellation of Tiger Airways flight TR717 last weekend to a storm.
I READ with amusement the article in The Sunday Times about 'Getting to know your neighbours" with a cartoon by Miel showing a smiling lady poking her head from her flat and a cat beside her (The Sunday Times, Jan 13). The problem we face nowadays is really 'not knowing your neighbours".
ON JAN 16, I went to Mustafa's with my seven months pregnant wife to purchase some items and a couple of phone cards. As my wife was too tired to walk, she was seated at the cafe located right alongside Mustafa's.
I RECENTLY patronised the food court at Terminal One upon arriving in Singapore on Jan 13.
I TERMINATED my cable vision contract in September last year as I was leaving the country.
MY ONE-MONTH plus Nokia 5610 was sent to the Nokia Parkway Parade Centre for repair on Dec 17 and until today nobody in Nokia can even tell me when my phone will be ready for collection.
WE RECENTLY came back from my honeymoon (a tour to Europe booked with Chan Brothers).
MY FRIENDS and I had an unfortunate experience with WTS Travel and Tours, a travel agent and motor coach operator.
I AM deeply moved by the story, 'Loss of sight no obstacle for this teacher" (ST, Jan 17).
